Carebun Reading for Chrome
Privacy policy
Last updated 15 October 2026.
What it reads
The extension runs only on the sites you choose: outcomeschool.com, which it starts with, sites you add from its menu (Chrome asks your permission for each one), and, only if you turn it on, articles from your own Reading Room list on other sites. On those pages it counts the seconds the tab is in front of you and how far down the page you scrolled. It does not read what you type, it does not read pages on other sites, and it does not keep your browsing history.
What it keeps, and where
For each page you read on those sites: its address, its title, the day, the seconds counted, minutes you added by hand, and how far you scrolled. This is kept in your browser's extension storage. When you are signed in to carebun, the extension uses your carebun sign-in (the session cookie for carebun.com) to send these totals to carebun's Reading Room, where they are stored with your account so they show on your other computers, on your shelves and in your reading hours. Signed out, nothing leaves your browser.
What it does not do
- No advertising, no analytics, no tracking across sites.
- Nothing is sold or given to anyone. The data is used only to show you your own reading.
- It sends data only to carebun's own servers.
Your control
Remove a site from the menu to stop counting there. Pause counting stops it everywhere. Export saves everything it holds as a file. Removing the extension deletes what it kept in the browser; to delete what is stored with your account, ask through carebun.com and it is removed.
